projectsakaroa=<FONT FACE="Arial" SIZE="12"><b>Investigation and stabilisation of the Akaroa Landslide</b></font><br>Following heavy rain a large landslide in bedrock and soil began moving on steep slopes elevated more than 100m above a residential area of Akaroa, Banks Peninsula. Geotech Consulting Ltd undertook urgent site investigation and stabilisation that initially involved unloading soil from the head of the landslide and was followed by a programme of subsurface horizontal drainage drilling. Once all movement ceased the road was reinstated and the landslide has remained stable ever since.
